8. No cap and gown, yet. Joining a nationwide trend, my 22-year-old college senior son will not graduate with his class. Ted will take an extra semester to get a double major in economics and actuarial science. Many of his friends will be in college for 5 years because they changed their majors or transferred in. He claims he won't miss the 3-hour sweltering ceremony, sitting in black robes in the sun.
